So what is it?

Essentially a SPLA License (Service Provider License Agreement) is a monthly rental on all the Microsoft Licensing you need for your business.

This subscription based licensing model provides a ‘Pay as You Go’ option for your staff and only paying for the number of licenses that are actually being utilized. Additionally, consumers of the SPLA licensing model receive software assurance, allowing upgrades of software to the latest versions at no additional cost. Paying upfront costs for licensing can require a significant capital expenditure.
